Music Excellence

Our Unique Music Program Awaits

At the Goldberg School of Music, we blend personalized lessons with group performance classes.

Our innovative approach allows students to grow both individually and collaboratively.

This is the only program in Northern Virginia that combines these elements effectively, ensuring a well-rounded music education for all.

Students like Selen Proulx, featured here, gain the skills and the confidence to master musical and performance arts.

No cookie-cutter lessons here.

Every student starts with an initial consultation where we get to know their skills, musical aptitude, and personal interests.

From there, we craft a customized plan that fits their goals—whether they’re dreaming of composing original songs, joining a band, or just jamming for fun.

Each lesson is built around who they are and how they learn best, so growth feels natural, exciting, and totally unique to them.

Client Testimonials

““I cannot say enough good things about Helena Goldberg, as a piano teacher, as a music school director, as a child advocate, and as a human being. She teaches the structured technical aspects of piano and music but is flexible and individualized enough to allow for creativity and exploration, which in our experience is truly unique to her approach and philosophy. My son Noble has learned and grown so much from piano lessons and summer camp with her, not just with music, but with things like community service and teamwork and compassion and friendship. She celebrates the uniqueness of each individual student, builds their confidence, encourages them and supports them in their dreams, and, as Noble's put it, "sees [his] jazzy soul." She is a gift to our community and our family. If you've ever even casually considered music lessons for your child, I cannot encourage you strongly enough to contact her at The Goldberg School of Music. Your child will be a better human for having her in their life, I promise you.”

"Annika’s ability to know and understand her student’s capabilities to learn a new instrument, as well as relearning how to read sheet music as an adult, is remarkable.  Not only does Anika have an vast breadth of advance music training in theory and performance, but also an uncanny amount of global and cultural music knowledge and use of various types of instruments.  Our lessons go beyond simply learning scales and musical pieces.     I am an adult student who stopped learning and playing music since leaving high school.  As you can imagine, I was very nervous about how much I had remembered, but also learning to play a new instrument (guitar).  Anika is patient and encouraging. Her passion for all things music is very evident.  She is incredibly flexible with me personally knowing that I have limited time while working to always practice as much as I should; enjoying just having me as a student who is willing to take as much time as possible to advance.  It’s all about the journey.  I highly recommend Anika for kids as well as adults.  It’s never too late!"
